The ASU Police Department is committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty and staff to live, work, study, and conduct research. ASU is a large and complex environment which requires dedicated men and women who are sensitive to the diverse needs of the community and are some of the most dedicated individuals committed to making a difference in the community. As a full-service, 24-hour law enforcement agency the ASU Police Department provides services to all four campuses.
The ASU Police Department provides a victim centered approach to crimes of sexual violence. ASU's officers, dispatchers, victim advocate and detectives have participated in training, through End Violence Against Women International (EVAWI), on the dynamics of sexual assault investigations, effective report writing, victim impact, and interviewing techniques. We share the goal of providing personal and professional responses to all victims. ASU has made the commitment to the Start by Believing campaign because we understand its value in helping us accomplish our mission in providing a safe living, learning, and working environment. ASU is part of the solution
Sexual assault is a serious crime. Even if you know your assailant, we encourage you to report the assault to the police.
In an emergency situation or to make a report to the police, dial 9-1-1. The local police will send an officer to take your report. Make sure to say where the assault took place; on or off campus, and in which city. You can also call the city's police department.
If you were assaulted on campus, an ASU police officer will be sent to take your report. A victim advocate is also available to be called and help answer any questions and support you through the reporting process.
Filing a police report does not obligate you to press charges. You may file a police report to document your experience without pressing charges.
